After 30 years, the creative team of Dominique Moncourtois and Heidi Morawetz will pass the Make Up Creation baton to Creative Director Peter Phillips. Two years ago, the duo began preparing for the transfer in Make Up Creation at CHANEL and Peter Philips, a graduate of Antwerp’s Académie des Beaux Arts, was chosen to join CHANEL as Creative Director – CHANEL Make Up. Massitige. It’s like a word Ali G would make up isn’t it?But it’s becoming a deadly serious term in the cut throat world of the cosmetics industry where only the fittest survive. A mash of the terms mass market and prestige it describes a product that settles somewhere in the middle. Read the rest of this entry »

After a phone call from our sister telling us that our Seven Reds in Seven Days photos are depressing (apparently we need some color, and our expressions are about as exciting as a 3-hour tax seminar), we thought we’d give you a smile. Today’s lipstick is Shiseido The Makeup Perfecting Lipstickicon in Real Red. This is a pretty, bold red with a berry undertone that seems to suit our (newly tan!) complexion. The creamy formula is highly pigmented and lasts for hours. Very nice.

This service isn't available in the UK (and may not ever reach our shores) so this post actually has a rather specific audience of US based Clinique Happy lovers! If you fall into that bracket, you might be interested to know you can now get a personalised version of Happy with your very own piccy to give you a smile every time you use a spritz. No matter how many times I brush my hair before I go in, I'm always mortified in hair salons because my hair gets so damn knotty that the stylist can rarely get their brush through it without causing me winces of pain. So I'm sorely tempted to buy a Tangle Teezer, which is apparently amazing at getting through knotty hair without pulling, and take it with me every time I need a trim. It's only £8.50, and so far Anne Robinson and Nadine Baggot have both declared their love for it. Like that? Bespoke scents are one thing, but My DNA Fragrance is entirely another. Instead of cherry-picking the notes which make your sense of scent sing, you send off a swab of your DNA with US$189, and you'll receive an unique perfume in return. They don't actually say how they're using your DNA to craft you a perfume (they could be throwing the swab in the bin and randomly sending you a perfume for all we know), but if you don't like what they send, you can get a refund.Personally I don't buy it, I'd rather choose something I actually like rather than take a risk based on a swab of my saliva. Plus, their website is awful. Like that? Try this: X Factor Fragrance smells of pink grapefruit, not desperation | Bespoke perfumes at The Perfume Studio

I know shower gel isn't the most exciting beauty product, but if you get the right one, it can really make a difference to your day. My current favourites are Liz Earle's Orange Botanical Wash (review coming soon), and Roxy's shower gel to accompany their Roxy perfume. Obviously it helps that I love the scent of the perfume, but this is a really lovely (if not slightly pricey at £14) shower gel. Made with pearl extract, it's lathers up into a creamy, moisturising froth, and leaves a fruity, summery scent behind. Like that? Try that? As we know from the comments on this site, there's a lot of people out there who will buy anything Jordan brings out. So I fully expect her new pink haircare range to be a best seller, never mind if it's any good or not. Read the rest of this entry »

I love little niche brands. Artisan brands started by people that end up creating something that they couldn't find. I found a new one for you! Treat Beauty is the brainchild of Marnie Massie who had a dry skin problem but wanted something that would soothe it and smell/taste good. She came up with a cruelty-free sweet ,by nature line of goodies that taste good enough to eat! Read the rest of this entry »

Random Act of Beauty: October 24, 2007, 11:37 a.m. I go to a local Punjabi Burrito joint hungrier than a hippo, and I find out after I order my food that they only take cash. I’m short $1.50 and the walk to the atm seems farther than a trek through the Sahara. Plus my stomach is rumbling like crazy. Read the rest of this entry »
