Spice It Up
Want to break out of the same old beauty routine but not sure where to begin? The holidays, that time of year famous for festive fetes, friendly gatherings, and raised spirits, are the perfect time to experiment and try out new things: a different color on your lips, a new look on the eyes.

But how do you sort through the makeup choices out there? Should you accent only one feature, or play up eyes and lips in one look?

To keep it simple, I've recommended three makeup looks to try this season -- and the easiest ways to wear them. The whole idea is balance. Your face has basically three areas to emphasize: eyes, lips, and cheeks. You never want to be full tilt in all three areas at once. Read the rest of this entry »

Ensure your lips are soft and supple by smoothing over moisturizer before you start. Prime your lips by smoothing them with foundation, using a make-up sponge so you reach every tiny crevice on the surface.

Dust over the top of the foundation with a light dusting of your usual face powder, to help your lipstick stay for longer. Rest your elbow on a firm surface and carefully draw an outline using a lip pencil, that it does-drag your .Make sure that you warm it slightly in your palm. Start by defining the Cupid's bow on the upper lip, and then draw a neat outline on your lower lip. Finish by completing the edges of the outline to your upper lip. Read the rest of this entry »

Fall is slowly approaching, and with winter right on its heel, there will be some changes that we will need to make. One of the most important things that you can do to help not only your closet, but yourself is to throw out that shoulder bag.

Okay, maybe you don’t necessarily have to throw it out, but at least avoid wearing your bag over your shoulder (don’t use the shoulder strap). Instead, hold the bag by its handles. It looks much more sophisticated and chic, and well…shoulder straps are just not in this season!

Choosing the Right Hair Style

Posted on Sep 06 2007 12:47 PM by Ilusionist
Filed Under: Beautiful Hair ,

When choosing a hairstyle one should always consider whether or not the hair style will suit your face shape. Many woman change their hair styles according to latest fashion trends while others maintain their same old styles as every individual has unique face cut, hair type and hair color. You can change your hairstyle according to the occasion.

For a square face choose a hair style with long layers preferably one with soft waves or curls, as these create a softness that detracts from the hard lines. Those with a square jaw line can take the edge off with a softening style that features side parting and longer hair at the nape of neck. A must avoid is a center parting or straight cut hair around the jaw line or even square bangs on the forehead. These geometric lines will only accentuate the strong structure of a square face even more. Read the rest of this entry »

How To Treat Dry Hair Properly

Posted on Sep 06 2007 12:43 PM by Ilusionist
Filed Under: Hair Care ,

1 Shampoo regularly
Unlike oily hair, dry hair shouldn’t be washes too often. Twice a week will be enough. Don’t shampoo your hair every day as it may become even drier. Always use a shampoo specifically designed for dry hair as it contains more humectants / moisturizing ingredients/. Make sure your shampoo is mild and cleanses your hair well. It shouldn’t contain alcohol or any harsh chemicals. Look for a low pH shampoo to keep your hair moisturized. When you apply the shampoo, massage your scalp gently to improve blood circulation. Massage the scalp with the tips of the fingers instead of the fingernails to avoid scalp irritation. Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water and never rinse with hot water as it dries out your hair. At the end finish with a cool rinse to remove all traces of shampoo residue. Makeup Tricks for Deep-Set Eyes

Posted on Sep 05 2007 9:57 PM by Ilusionist
Filed Under: Eye Make Up ,

Step 1: Start with eye cream. It will smooth and plump up the skin around the eye, nixing any fine lines.

Step 2: Prep lids. Many women's eyelids are darker than the rest of their skin, casting shadows that make deep-set eyes look even smaller. Even out the tone of your lids by applying a layer of foundation to them.

Step 3: Apply a light-colored shadow. Sweep a light-colored shadow over your entire lid, from lashline to browbone. Choose a color such as bone, taupe, or peach because light colors make features stand out (while dark colors make features appear to recede).

Step 4: Add a medium shadow. Dust a medium-toned shadow along the crease of your eye. Again, don't go too dark; pick a medium brown or gray. Read the rest of this entry »

Makeup Tricks for Small Eyes

Posted on Sep 05 2007 9:55 PM by Ilusionist
Filed Under: Eye Make Up ,

Lots of body parts begin to droop with age, eyelids included. When you couple that with naturally small eyes, you can wind up with a squinty look. But there are makeup steps you can take to open up your eyes again. Try these:

Groom your brows. Even without any makeup, eyes look instantly wider when they're framed by groomed brows. See a pro for the perfect plucking, or try it yourself by using tweezers to remove any stray hairs under the arch of your brow. Fill in sparse spots with brow powder and a stiff brush, and comb into place with a brow comb.

Stick to light colors. Dark shadow shades make small eyes look even littler. Instead, brighten things up with light colors. Bone, taupe, heather, and soft white are good choices for all skin tones. For liner, go with a deeper tone, but avoid a thick line of black or charcoal, which can actually close up the eye. Read the rest of this entry »
