The door-to-door selling days of Avon and Mary Kay ladies might be dying out, but there's a new generation of makeup distributors rising up the ranks. These days, it's all about Avon's youthful cosmetics line Mark and a little thing called social media. According to the New York Times, a whole slew of college girls are making some extra cash (and presumably applying it to their student loans) by selling Mark cosmetics.

Just a quick heads up for my Chanel fiends and lip lovahs! Brace those lurvely lips for Coco’s upcoming Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour line of hydrating lipsticks. Okay, are your lips sufficiently braced? These couple pics from the European print ad campaign show it in action on French actress/singer Vanessa Paradis, aka Johnny Depp’s baby mama.

The NARS Spring 2010 Collection, inspired by Catherine Deneuve’s role as Lucille in La Chamade, features soft, sexy shades that are as elegant as they are versatile. The NARS Spring 2010 Collection was photographed by NARS Cosmetics Founder and Creative Director François Nars. François created the makeup look and cast supermodel Amber Valletta, who is a long-time collaborator of his.

Tonight I stopped by the mall to get an up close and personal look at the rest of the two brand-spankin’ new MAC collections that arrived today, All Ages, All Races, All Sexes and MAC in Lillyland. I set out to find my favorites and brainstorm with the makeup artists at the counter to find the best of the rest.

The foundation is contained within a glass bottle, with no separate applicator or pump so you need to be careful when using it, as I've had one or two messy spills. It's a really fine liquid, which easily sinks into the skin and is non comedogenic for those who worry about breakouts. The coverage provided is extremely luminous, and you'd definitely need powder to mattify the T-Zones area.

Sometimes, when I rifle through my makeup, I feel like a deep-sea explorer — like the Jacques Cousteau of cosmetics — discovering new species of lipgloss and learning more about the many products that inhabit my personal makeup world, LOL! I get a big kick out of rediscovering great products that I haven’t worn in months, like the Sparkling Satins Eyeshadow quad from Chanel ($56).

Good morning, ladies. Yes, the rumors are true. In a little more than 12 hours, we’ll close the book on 2009 forever and begin a new chapter titled “2010″, a brand-spankin’ new year filled with promise and hope for us all. With a lead like that, it feels like I should do something special tonight, LOL! Ya know, it’ll be special, no matter WHAT — even if I end up just spending the night home with the two men in my life (El Hub and Tabs).

According to a survey of 600 American women ages 25 and up, these ladies will be reducing spending on cosmetics by 8.7 percent in 2010. "In personal care, consumers plan to spend less overall, but indicate they will remain loyal to brand names," said David Garfield, a managing director of AlixPartners who conducted the survey. He told WWD that while consumers have been "value shoppers" in 2009, "they have evolved into 'value-hunters, tracking down deals and perceived value."

Brrr! It’s so cold up in here, girls. I’m back home in frigid Novato, Caly-for-nigh-ay — home of the Mighty Marin Raccoons, yee haw! Tabs hasn’t stopped meowing since I walked in the door, and that was a half an hour ago. Lawd, he doth protest! It’s awfully late here, but it’s not too late for today’s giveaway, yes?

Last week we told you about Urban Decay's Alice In Wonderland Book of Shadows, which is now available at Sephora in the US. Next up is OPI's Down the Rabbit Hole, a collection of nail polishes inspired by the new Tim Burton film out in March. The polishes seem to have a good dose of glitter - the blue Absolutely Alice and purple Mad As a Hatter - which is just what we'd expect for such a magical, over-the-top inspiration.

There's nothing I like more than a beautifully presented palette ( a personal weakness) and this gorgeous creation ticks all the right boxes. You get four beautiful shades contained within a slate grey glossy case, with a mirror that's large enough to use to apply your full face.

Greetings from cloudy Kaneohe, ladies. It’s a little after 6 p.m. on Monday. I’m sitting here in my in-law’s small townhouse at the foot of the jungly Ko’olau Mountains on the Eastern side of the Island of Oahu. Right now we’re just catching up, chatting about Christmas and watching Jay-Z on Oprah, LOL! On the flight over here I got to thinking about options and how most girls like to have ‘em, especially when it comes to lipgloss.

If you want to see some beautiful wedding imagery, Shooting Star Weddings has plenty on their newly launched site. The wedding planners are experienced in organising weddings as far away as Dubai and Egypt alongside homespun UK nuptials. Also catering for Asian ceremonies, they have a great Asian makeup gallery with some stunning looks like the one pictured here.
