Hi, fellow fragrance fiends! I’m sitting here at my desk, rockin’ out to Duran Duran (hungry like the wolf!) and sniffing the new Bath & Body Works lotion in Black Amethyst.
The scent is a big departure from Bath & Body Works’ last fragrance, Rainkissed Leaves. Leaves was light, but notes of amber, citrus and vanilla make Black Amethyst a richer, thicker scent for fall.

You probably know me well enough by now to know I go ape over anything fruity and fresh, so the latest Citrus line from L'Occitane has me coming over all faint. The new Citrus Verena fragrance is a mixture of lemon oil and grapefruit extract and smells like summer.

Hey Beauty readers,
I’ve been writing on the Home and Garden section, but this week they asked me if I would like to write something in the Beauty section. I jumped at the chance because it’s something I happen to know a thing or two about!
My first thought was to do a blog about my favorite fragrance. For two years I worked at a retail store called Fred Segal located on the famous Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, CA.

First off, I think you'll agree this is a terrible, terrible name. I mean surely the marketing people had to figure out that Pussy is not a good name for a scent? And this one, with notes of black locust, strawberry and musk is surely bound to appeal to the youth market? Do you want your Bratz obsessed sister wearing Pussy?

I can't decide if it's endearing or irritating that Kerry Katona's scent is modelled on a 'phwoar' fragrance. Seriously folks, that's in the press release. Apparently she wanted a fragrance that was as true to life as her, and one that could be classed as a fruity floral musk. The bottle is bright and brash, in hot red with designer spikes around the top.

My hair hates me; frozen all winter while I snowboard fresh powder, it's now being punished further, soaked in salty surf. Spilt, dry and in need of a cut, I have to rekindle the relationship with my tresses fast - my skin needs some love too. Thankfully The Body Shop has come to the rescue with some lush new moisturising lines for skin and hair this summer.

Now I'm a big fan of Kylie's Sweet Darling scent so I was looking forward to trying out Sexy darling, to be released on the 30th July. The bottle is a deep dark red, and the packaging reflects a much more mature woman, who is aware of her sexuality.

The word perfume comes from the Latin word `per fumum` which means `through smoke`. The art of making perfumes, known as perfumery, is quite an ancient art, dating back to more than four thousand years. Interestingly, the most ancient ones were not made using flowers. Instead they were based on the extracts of spices and herbs. Some of the most popular ones were almond, myrtle, bergamot, coriander etc. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s the small pleasures in life that make it all worthwhile.
A new collection of airport-friendly RYOKO fragrance pebbles is launching this summer from Kenzo Parfums and we are beyond excited. We fell in love with Kenzo RYOKO last summer when the first collection launched and have been waiting for Kenzo to make one with our beloved KenzoAmour fragrance.

We need to let you in on a little secret.
Promise you won’t tell anyone?
Seriously.
It is quite possible we are going crazy. NUTS. And by this we don’t mean life-is-so-hectic-and-crazy-we-need-a-vacation kind of crazy. Or I’m-cuckoo-for-Cocoa-Puffs kind of crazy. No, this crazy is more like, um, crazy crazy.
Psycho crazy.**
Does this scare you? (You’re not alone.)
